Keiki Creativity: We're Still Smiling from Kapunahala Elementary’s Summer Fun Program!

Sep 01、2025

As this summer comes to a close, we’re reflecting on one of our favorite highlights: spending the day with Kapunahala Elementary’s Summer Fun program in Kāneʻohe.

We had the privilege of sharing our story as small business owners, introducing the keiki to the world of entrepreneurship, and of course—cooling everyone down with our frozen artisan pops made from locally sourced ingredients. The best part? The kids surprised us with a collection of thoughtful thank-you letters and colorful drawings that absolutely warmed our hearts.

Kapunahala Elementary’s Summer Fun Program

Summer Fun is more than just a camp—it’s a City-operated program that serves over 10,000 keiki and teens each year across Oʻahu. With a focus on fun, leadership, teamwork, and cultural enrichment, Summer Fun gives kids a safe and inspiring place to grow during the break.

But here’s the catch: to make Summer Fun possible for so many families, the City relies on hiring over 500 seasonal staff every year. The more staff they can recruit, the more keiki they can welcome into the program—and that’s where the community comes in.

Want to help? Consider applying to join the Summer Fun ʻohana. It’s not just a summer job; it’s a chance to mentor kids, give back to the community, and create life-long memories.

We’re grateful to Kapunahala Elementary for inviting us to share our journey, and to Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation for making Summer Fun a reality every year. Here’s to supporting the next generation of leaders, one pop at a time.
